The Glock 19 has been selected
By the US Marine Corp As the only hand gun to be used by MARSOC units apparently dropping the Colt M45 series 1911 frame pistol. This is a continuing pistol boondoggle in the armed services.
But that is nothing like the 17 million dollar Modular Handgun System program which is throwing money away according to the Army Chief of Staff who wanted to spend the 17 million and just buy a Glock 19 for anyone issued a pistol and call it good.

My opinion for what its worth
When I take out a new shooter, Men, women, young adults etc I let them shoot a number of different guns. I try to give them a fair overview of styles of pistols, calibers and grips.
What I see over and over, when I ask which they liked always comes down to the Glock 19
Its easy to shoot. And 9mm for now is one of the cheapest center fire calibers out there.
The grip angle and size fits most peoples hand, whether they are women with small hands or men with larger hands.
Magazines are cheap with MagPull making a great aftermarket magazine priced lower than factory mags. Unbelievable in that price point. And they work, as Magpull usually does.
Holsters and pouches are literally on every shelf in gunshops and Ive seen G19 holsters at Wal Mart
I usually don’t push one type of weapon over another. I start to sound like a fan boy and that’s not what I am about here. I like Glocks. The G19 is my favorite of the line and its rumored I have more than a few. I also like Colt 1911 pistols. Are they better? Not better but different with 100 years of difference in the design and materials.
I can say for concealment I do prefer the Glock 19 in my Dale Fricke Archangel over the Colt. Just preference after carrying consistently for the last 25 years in Az where we have to work around clothing for hot weather all the time.
If you want a concealable, reliable handgun, that wont cost you a mint the Glocks are about as good as it gets
